and Myers serves the following communities in the Chicagoland
area:
|
Hinsdale. The
history of the Village can be traced back for more than
a century. What we call "Hinsdale" today was
once known as Brush Hill and later called Fullersburg.
Hardy pioneers seeking higher ground came west from the
shores of Lake Michigan, following the old Black Hawk
Indian Trail, which led them to what is now DuPage County
and the western edge of Cook County.
With great foresight, William Robbins, "The Father
of Hinsdale" bought 6400 acres of land in 1862, and
a village was born. One of the first things Robbins did
was to plan and build streets, but equally important,
he planted thousands of young shade trees. The name "Hinsdale"
was established on April 3, 1873, and Judge Joel Tiffany
was its first president. Hinsdale's population at that
time was about 500; today, it is home to approximately
17,000 residents.
Hinsdale has become one of the west suburban area's most
prestigious communities. Located on the Cook/DuPage county
line and on the Burlington Northern Railroad route which
provides access to Chicago's Loop in 23 minutes, and has
quickly gained the favor of commuters.
Hinsdale public schools are among the highest ranking
in the area and include seven elementary, one middle school,
Hinsdale Central High School and Hinsdale South High School.
Excellent private day care centers, nursery schools and
parochial schools are readily available to residents.
Hinsdale Hospital offers residents the largest comprehensive
medical center in DuPage County. The village is also home
to Suburban Hospital which is affiliated with Rush-Presbyterian-St.
Lukes Medical Center.
The downtown shopping area and outlying shopping malls
offer a diverse and appealing assortment of boutiques
and shops as well as a broad range of services including
a community newspaper and many fine restaurants.
The Village of Hinsdale offers many parks with recreational
activities including soccer, baseball, tennis, platform
tennis, ice skating, youth programs and a new swimming
pool complex including a water slide pool, baby pool and
lap pool.
The Village of Hinsdale is governed by its Village President
and a Board of Trustees. A Village Manager is employed
to supervise the approximately 100 village employees in
the performance of village services, meeting the needs
of the residents.
This beautiful, stable upscale community has been named
one of the nation's 10 Best Places To Live.
